Students exempt from the obligation to pay the semester ticket fee are students with the following characteristics.

• Students with a ‘severely disabled pass’ valid for an unlimited period
• Students who are enrolled at two universities and already pay a semester ticket fee at the other university
• Officials (“Verbeamtete”)
• Students enrolled in part-time courses

In such absolutely exceptional cases, students must contact their respective study office (“Immatrikulationsbüro”) in order to be registered in advance in the administrative system as exempted from the obligation to pay the semester ticket fee.
